Comparative Adjective Barrier Activity

The Word doc below is a barrier activity I used with my EAL learners when teaching them how to use comparative adjectives to compare life in the city to life int he countryside.

Learners sit facing each other and take it in turns to complete the table.

The questions they need to ask each other should be displayed and you should model how to complete the activity by giving a demonstration. The demonstration helps them visualise how to complete the activity.

The questions they could ask each other are:

  • What is the comparative adjective of __________?
  • What is the adjective of the comparative ________?

The reason I use these questions is that it gets learners using the meta language of comparative and adjective which I think is essential for understanding.
