Language techniques and in particular figurative language devices are quite difficult concepts for EAL learners to grasp.
The wider range of ways you can help EAL learners to develop their understanding of these techniques the easier it will be for them to grasp.
Attached are two activities I have used in English lessons with my co teachers.
- The first page is a matching exercise in which learners have to match the figurative language device with the meaning and in some cases some examples.
