Read it! Say it! is a classroom strategy that I use to enhance my EAL learners ability to spot or notice errors or mistakes in their own writing, edit and then make improvements.  It does lead to quite a bit of noise but I have found that it really helps them to notice errors in grammar and vocabulary.

All you need to do is get your EAL learners to read the first sentence of their text in their head but then after they have read the sentence they then say it out loud.  The improvements in their noticing of errors makes this noisy strategy well worth while.
